TALKING STATUES & THE ELLIS ISLAND NATIONAL PARK MUSEUM BROUGHT ANNIE MORE TO LIFE

Some of our earliest installations in New York are still going strong, used every day by visitors.

Back in 2016, we partnered with the National Park Services and the Ellis Island Museum to create an installation right on Ellis Island- where millions of immigrants came to America in search of new opportunities.

Annie More the first immigrant to America is a Talking Statue, and tells the visitors with her Irish accent about her arrival, her life in America and how she for a long time was a mistanken identity.

What makes her story so fascinating is that, for a long time, she was mistaken for another Annie Moore. It wasn’t until later that the truth about what happened to the real Annie Moore came to light.

At the museum, visitors can scan a code to receive a phone call from Annie herself. To make the experience as authentic as possible, we cast an Irish-American actor to play Annie’s role, and the monologue was written by a writer with a special interest in Ireland.

Our goal was to bring to life the famous story of the first immigrant to New York—Annie Moore.
