At the heart of Ishøj Byhave stands a striking water monument—a four-meter-tall raw granite stone that commands attention and serves as a powerful focal point. This imposing natural sculpture anchors the garden, symbolizing strength and timelessness amid the flowing water that shapes the space. Water is the garden’s central theme.
The existing basin near the swimming pool is preserved, and from it, a gentle trickling stream will be transformed into a winding water staircase. This sculptural water feature invites visitors to play, gather, and enjoy the soothing movement and sound of water. Replacing the old reflective pool, the plaza now features an artistic pavement of large concrete slabs interspersed with red granite accents.
This design reflects the many red brick walls surrounding the garden, creating a harmonious connection between nature and architecture. Lush plantings of rhododendrons, bulb lawns, and decorative pots bring vibrant life and color to the garden, making it a welcoming and attractive place to explore. The master plan for Ishøj Byhave invites visitors to experience a carefully crafted balance of stone, water, and greenery—a peaceful urban oasis viewed daily from the bridge connecting Ishøj Bycenter to Vejleåparken.
