Madama Lucrezia

Passeggiata del Gianicolo, 3, 00165 Roma RM, Italy

Madama Lucrezia is a colossal Roman bust located in a corner of a piazza between the Palazzo Venezia and the Basilica of San Marco in Rome. The statue is about 3 meters high and is one of Rome’s five “talking” statues.

The bust is believed to have originally represented the Egyptian Goddess Isis or a priestess from the time of Domitian .

Madama Lucrezia used to have anonymous satires pinned to her marble folds, making her one of the “talking statues” of Rome
