Pjæk

One of Glostrup’s Talking Statues you’ll find at Glostrup Skole, Nordvang, is “Pjæk” by Steen Krarup Jensen. Created in 1975, this sculpture was installed to celebrate the school’s 25th anniversary. What makes it special is that the carving took place right at the school, giving students and teachers a front-row seat to the creative process.
Steen Krarup Jensen, who was a fourth-year student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ sculpture school at the time, crafted this remarkable piece early in his career. We’re thrilled to present Talking Statues, a project that brings Glostrup’s public art to life with 44 sculptures speaking to you in Danish and English. It’s a fresh, interactive way to explore the rich art scene throughout our city.
We invite you to walk the route and discover these stories firsthand.Glostrup’s outdoor art spans from classic forms to abstract works, all designed to engage and inspire. Talking Statues awaken curiosity and invite reflection in equal measure. For those who prefer, a virtual tour lets you explore all sculptures from anywhere.
Inside public buildings, you’ll find paintings by both Danish and international artists. The Municipal Council chamber, for example, displays portraits of all former mayors, connecting us to Glostrup’s story. We encourage you to dive into Talking Statues and experience Glostrup’s vibrant artistic heritage.
